Cloud Computing – The Technology and Politics

Cloud is aimed at the “newer” generation of people that do EVERYTHING online, for them, the operating system doesn’t matter anymore.

Well, that’s one of the buzzy phrase used by Cloud companies. But How many really agree to this? Will cloud solve all overheads in enterprise systems? Often, The cloud computing is cited as a cost saving mantra for your organisation. But how far this is true?

It is very clear that the Cloud computing as a technology is yet to prove its business worthiness. The security and privacy is still the biggest concerns. The aggression shown by the cloud providers is annoying the customers who are looking to migrate their legacy IT systems to new age technology.

If you look at the cloud vendors in the current market, the cloud offerings are confusing and politically motivated. No Standards, No Regulations and everyone wants to have lion share in the cloud computing market. And they are yet to answer another biggest challenge “Vendor locking”. Will this get regulated by a global governing body? When will the “Open Cloud” become reality? or will this be another buzz word like SOA? What do you think?

Watch this cool video, ripping the cloud vendors at its best.
